Getting Started with Craftphilia
From unboxing to your first finished rug — everything you need, step by step.
Step 1
Unbox & Assemble
Your machine arrives partially assembled. Follow the assembly video and you'll be ready in one sitting — no special tools or skills needed.
- Check everything against the packing list first
- Keep the original packaging until setup is complete
- Place the machine on a stable, flat surface with space around it
Step 2
Install Craftphilia Studio
Craftphilia Studio is your design hub — free with every machine. Download it for Windows or macOS, then connect your machine following the in-app setup guide.
- Runs on Windows and macOS (mobile app in development)
- Free, including all updates
- The in-app guide walks you through connecting your machine
Step 3
Load Cloth & Yarn
Stretch the tufting cloth onto the frame and load your yarn. Your machine comes with cloth sized for it, plus yarn for your first project.
- Even cloth tension matters — follow the video for the stretching technique
- Use 5 mm acrylic yarn
- Starter materials for your first rug are included in the box
Step 4
Tuft Your First Rug
Your machine includes a beginner-ready pattern with matching yarn. Load it in Craftphilia Studio, press start, and watch your first rug come to life — typically 1–5 hours depending on size and design.
- Start with the included beginner pattern before trying your own designs
- The machine runs unattended — keep hands clear of moving parts while it works
- Some light mechanical noise during operation is normal
Step 5
Create from Your Own Image
Upload any JPG or PNG into Craftphilia Studio. The software separates your image into yarn colors and generates the tufting path automatically — fine-tune as much or as little as you like.
- Bold, simple images with fewer colors tuft best — great first choices
- Preview the color separation before you start
- Browse the Pattern Library for ready-to-tuft designs
Step 6
Finish Your Rug
Once tufting is done, a few finishing touches turn your work into a durable rug. Our finishing guide covers each step in detail.

SUPPLIES 101
Choosing Your Supplies
Three things keep your machine tufting: yarn, cloth, and a few wear parts. Here's how to choose.
Tufting Yarn
Your machine is designed for 5 mm acrylic yarn.
- Official yarn is tested for consistent tension and color results
- Third-party 5 mm acrylic works, but material damage outside spec isn't covered by warranty
- Fewer colors = faster, cleaner first projects
Tufting Cloth
The foundation your rug is tufted into.
- Sized for your machine — CF05 and CF07 use different sheet sizes
- One sheet per project; grab a multi-pack for busy weekends
- Even tension when stretching = clean results
Expansion Kits
Unlock the full tufting area of your machine.
- CF05: expands 50 × 50 cm → 50 × 100 cm
- CF07: expands 70 × 70 cm → 70 × 140 cm
- Install once, use forever
Wear Parts
Needles and other wear parts are easy to swap yourself.
- Keep a spare needle on hand for uninterrupted projects
- Guided replacement videos for every part
- Warranty covers defects — wear parts are consumables
