BuyThe things people ask most before buying. Can't find yours? See the full FAQ or contact us.
No. The machine follows the path Craftphilia Studio generates from your image, so there's no gun to hold and no hand technique to learn first. What you'll learn over your first few pieces is design — how many colours to use and how detail reads at your size — and finishing, which is the same for everyone.
The CF05, its frame, and a starter kit: tufting cloth, a starter pattern and matching yarn — enough to make your first piece without buying anything else first.
To run it: a sturdy, flat table and a Windows or macOS computer.
To finish your pieces: rug glue, backing fabric, and a carpet trimmer or carving scissors. These aren't included — they're standard tufting supplies, and any you already own will work. What finishing involves →
The machine measures 850 × 720 × 450 mm and weighs 17 kg. With the Expansion Kit fitted it's 850 × 1220 mm and 20 kg. Plan your table around the footprint, not the tufting area — and make sure it holds that weight without wobbling. A standard desk or folding work table is usually enough.
No. The CF05 arrives partially assembled, and you finish the rest by following a step-by-step video. No special tools or experience needed, and it's a one-time job.
Up to 50 × 50 cm out of the box, and 50 × 100 cm with the Expansion Kit. Those figures are the real usable design area — the cloth is cut larger so the frame has something to grip. Bigger pieces can be tufted in panels and joined after finishing. If most of what you plan to make is wider than 50 cm, take a look at the CF07. Which size fits you →
Typically one to five hours of machine time, depending on size, number of colours and pattern complexity. After that the glue needs up to a day to cure before finishing, so plan a piece across two days rather than one afternoon.
No — you load each colour. The CF05 tufts one colour at a time, then pauses and waits. Load the next yarn, press resume, and it picks up exactly where it stopped. There's no limit on colours; more colours simply means more pauses.
Between colour changes, yes. A single-colour piece runs start to finish without you. If the yarn breaks or tangles, the machine detects it and pauses until you've fixed it, so you don't lose the piece.
Cut pile. If loop pile is part of your work, a hand-held tufting gun is still the right tool for that. Gun vs machine →
Yes. The CF05 Expansion Kit is $149 and fits by undoing and re-securing a few screws on the base and frame. Kits and frames are model-specific, so the CF05 takes the CF05 kit only.
12 months on the machine. If something goes wrong, we diagnose it remotely, ship the replacement part free, and walk you through the fix by video. Key components are modular, and spare parts are available to buy separately after the warranty. Warranty & returns →
The CF05 ships free within the contiguous United States from our US warehouse.
